On My Law Firm Profile
I don’t think you can say you’ve become an official member of the firm until you have your profile posted on the firm’s website. Alas, I am now, officially, an Associate with the firm of Shearman & Sterling.
I feel rather accomplished because many of my colleagues have not had this honor bestowed upon them yet; although they passed the bar, they haven’t been admitted yet. Of course, the only “accomplishment” that distinguishes me from my fellow first years is that I avoided the stress of a firm job by doing a clerkship for one year.
The profile, though, is so bare bones. Check this one out from DLA Piper with pictures and narrative personal experience.
If you scroll through attorney profiles on www.shearman.com, it appears only Partners and Of Counsel receives similar treatment. Just another reason to aspire to that level.
On a sidenote, the Eric O’Neill of DLA Piper is the guy Ryan Phillipe played in “Breach,” the movie about an FBI agent who betrayed the U.S. for over 20 years.
My will, I assure you, will be simple since I have nothing to leave.
That’s a nice pic.
Nah, I don’t do wills for out-of-staters. It’s hard enough when someone even owns land out of state. I mostly do really simple wills, for people of limited means. It’s kind of an ancillary practice to the family law thing.
Yeah, the picture of us working was funny to do, because we actually have two of the same book spread out in front of us and a random file. I thought it would turn out to look really staged but it came out well.
Dude, your profile is awesome. You look so distinguished and you get a narrative description!
I love that picture of you working closely with your boss (that is your boss, right?). It makes you seem important, although some may say (not me) you look like a client in the picture.
I’m thinking of getting a will. I know a very good attorney from my days during the clerkship, but he’s a bit on the pricey end. I guess you can’t do it for me, right, or can you?

Why thank you. Before you know it, I’d have a picture!
Congrats Joe…you are moving up in the world! lol
